Alessandro joined NLC in 2022 and brings over 20 years of experience in the MedTech industry. His passion lies in translating clinical needs into meaningful solutions, building purpose-driven 'tribes' of early adopters and taking impactful innovations from idea to business realisation. He has lived in four European countries and has travelled to more than 20 countries with great curiosity for healthcare systems, and the local food culture.

Amalia joined NLC in August 2021 as a Legal Counsel. She holds an LL.M. degree from Uppsala University and has also studied EU law at Utrecht University. During her studies, Amalia was very interested in regulations surrounding healthtech, and wrote her master thesis on privacy issues in health tracking devices used in healthcare. She is thrilled to join NLC in its mission to bring better and more affordable healthtech solutions to patients.

Amanda Lehmann joined NLC’s Technology Assessment and Strategy team in August 2021. Her background is in the life sciences, having undertaken a PhD and postdoctoral studies in Cambridge, Montreal and Munich. She has worked at several UK technology transfer offices at the academia/industry interface. Amanda enjoys hearing about new technologies and getting them to the next crucial step on their journey to achieving patient benefit.

Amy is currently studying Software Development and joined NLC in March 2022 for her graduate internship. She is passionate about technology and is eager to learn, and is excited to support NLC in its mission to bring science to life.

Annameta joined NLC in April 2020. She is working as a Venture Developer, with the mission of creating a positive impact on patients’ lives. Having lived in Italy, UK, and the Netherlands, Annameta has developed an open and international outlook. She holds an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience from UCL and is part of the digital and Medtech domains. She enjoys new challenges and meeting driven inventors.

Anne joined the NLC team in January 2022. She is passionate about making healthcare accessible, affordable, and unbiased. In the past 10 years, she has focused on personalising healthcare using (medical) technology and data and putting the patient first. Through various projects, Anne has impacted over 250K patients’ lives across Europe, India, and Africa. At NLC, she works with corporates and academic institutions to bring more significant inventions to life.

Currently partner of Ownership Capital. Over 20 years of experience in investment management and responsible investing and private equity. (Senior investment director at PGGM, various senior positions at ABN AMRO)

Asier joined NLC in March 2022 in venture development. He holds a BSc in Biotechnology and is currently finishing his MSc in Science and Business Management, focusing on Neurobiology. Being a lover of innovation in the biotech field, NLC is a perfect fit for Asier as he strives to make clinical innovations closer to everyone and know closer the business side of life sciences.

Augusta joined the NLC team in August 2020. She has gained her expertise in human resources and recruitment in the U.S, Qatar and Lithuania. As a People & Culture expert here, Augusta supports recruitment and people development side of activities to foster an impact-driven culture.

Bender joined NLC in January 2022 as a venture developer. He developed his passion for healthtech during his BSc in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Groningen. He also holds an MSc in Engineering and Policy Analysis from the Delft University of Technology. Bender is highly motivated to contribute to creating meaningful ventures with a positive impact all around the world.

Bernard joined NLC in July 2019. He has always been driven by his curiosity and eagerness to learn how inventions work and how they can be improved. After graduating as a mechanical engineer, he sought to expand his technical knowledge to create more value, and completed a master’s in Entrepreneurship and Business Design at the Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. Bernard has had first-hand experience with venture creation, training in intellectual property strategy, open innovation and knowledge-based business development. Now, he aligns his technical and entrepreneurial background with his interest in healthcare improvement and helps NLC to bring innovative solutions to the patients.

Bert-Arjan is the founder of NLC and has a personal aim to advance health. He has over 20 years of experience in business development and growth strategies. His love for pushing boundaries and stretching the possibilities of an organisation allows Bert-Arjan to steer NLC's unique business model and to support the team.

Carlos joined NLC in January 2022. He is currently completing an MSc in Financial Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and holds a double degree in Business Administration and Law. Carlos is enthusiastic about entrepreneurship, corporate valuation and strategy and is eager to learn and get the most of this experience at NLC for the next six months.

Carlos joined NLC on the 1st of June 2022 as Junior Legal Counsel. He holds an LL.M. degree from Leiden University in European and International Business Law and also studied law and international relations in Madrid. Previous to his job at NLC he worked for two years at an international pharmaceutical company in The Hague, where he developed his interests in the pharma and medscience industries.

Christian joined NLC in 2021 and is a life science professional passionate about translating science into innovations. He is particularly interested in digital solutions and value creation from data assets. He holds a PhD in biophysical chemistry from Heidelberg University and was a postdoc at the Max Planck Society and Harvard University. With more than 16 years of cross-functional and general management experience from large global corporates, management consulting and fast-growing startups, Christian brings valuable expertise, including digital product management, strategy development, and business transformation and scaling.

Christine joined NLC in February 2022 as a biomedical sciences master’s student with a management specialisation and is now working full-time in Venture Support! During her time at the Leiden University Medical Centre conducting research, Christine came to recognise that healthcare needs innovation and entrepreneurship to advance. She is dedicated to creating a lasting, positive impact on individuals and making healthcare accessible to all. Impact-driven, focused and a team player, she is excited to bring science to life.

Corrine joined NLC in December 2021 as a Communications Specialist. For over 6 years, she has worked in various marketing and communications functions within the Higher Education sector. She is passionate about making a positive impact, whether through improving processes or creating stories that bring NLC’s values to life.

Danyl joined NLC in 2020 and holds a Bachelor’s in Finance, and Business and IT. He strives to help businesses achieve optimal IT support, improve ICT workflow, translate business requirements into IT solutions, and optimise business processes. Danyl helps bring science to life by ensuring that NLC has effective and efficient IT support.

Cardio and Neuro Vascular expert, with 30 years experience in executive roles in the medical device industry in Europe.

Broad international management background in Medtech and Consumer healthcare solutions: understands what it takes to turn ideas into practice. Dirk is an advisory board member of several life sciences companies and has his own consultancy firm.

Dominique joined NLC in 2021 and has a background in Medicine and Biomedical Engineering. She holds a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Leiden University and is eager to apply her science and engineering knowledge. Dominique wants to drive the translation of innovations that benefit patients’ lives, thereby bringing science to life!

Medical technology leader with extensive progressive global sales, marketing, clinical and operating experience across both large and small companies in medical technology and contract research organizations at VP and European management levels. Commercialized multiple Class III cardiovascular medical devices both within start-up (Endosense) and global strategics (Medtronic & Biotronik). Two exit strategies Endosense ($350m) to Abbott (St Jude Medical) two years after commercialization & Admedus sales & EU distribution arm to Le Maitre ($15min) four years after CE approval. Led a team of medical device professional working on many Class III cardiovascular clinical projects for sponsors supporting the regulatory process and guiding/helping clients towards the right pathway. Built strong working relationships with worldwide leading KOLs in supporting the adoption of new cardiovascular technologies during my tenure at Biotronik, Endosense & Admedus.

Ellis joined NLC in 2021 and sees health innovation as an inherently intersectional field. She joined NLC as a venture developer to combine her research, business, and policy interests to help translate health inventions into tangible solutions. Ellis has a background in chemical and biological engineering and research and holds a Master’s degree in medical biology and innovation management.

Eva joined NLC in 2021 and is responsible for finding and attracting CEOs for NLC’s ventures. She is an experienced international executive life sciences recruiter with agency and corporate experience. Eva has a passion for helping companies realise their business plans by getting the right people on board and finds great meaning in building ventures that advance health for patients worldwide.

Entrepreneurial, positive and result-driven team player with a decade of experience in talent management and executive search, including founding and exiting a life sciences recruitment agency. Passionate about high-impact innovation and strong believer of ‘You can invent alone, but you can not innovate alone’.

Pharmaceutical executive with over 18 years of successful practice in different, international work settings (large pharma, biotech start-up, pharma management consultancy) performing hands-on corporate tasks (Operations, BusDev./licensing, fundraising, org).

Extensive experience in international banking and finance as well as investment banking (ABN AMRO and Mees & Hope). Over 20 years working for LMS International NV, a software engineering company - being engaged in finance and related matters

Gina holds a Masters in biotechnology with a focus on synthetic biology from ETH Zurich and worked in management consulting as well as venture capital before joining NLC. She joined NLC as a Venture Developer in February 2020 to help startups succeed and ensure the wealth of innovation surrounding us gets its chance to make a real impact.

Harri holds a BA Honours degree in English Literature and is an experienced talent partner. She has joined NLC as a Venture Teaming Expert and is excited to be part of growing NLC’s business.

Hidde joined NLC as a venture developer intern in April 2022. He is a medical student at Erasmus MC Rotterdam. Hidde is an analytical-thinking team player who thrives under pressure. He gets his motivation from the possibility of improving people's lives by using business to bring innovation to the patient.

Hidde has extensive experience in mergers & acquistions, corporate and structured finance, company valuations, debt advisory, venture capital and treasury management. He gained this experience at EY’s M&A department, at Zanders as well as at an Amsterdam based M&A boutique. He will use this experience to help NLC’s ventures with finance related issues throughout their lifecycle under NLC’s management, ultimately leading to achieving successful exits, maximizing the ventures’ positive impact on society.  

Irni’s academic background includes a Bachelor’s in Microbiology, a Doctor in Medicine, and a Master in Business Administration. He is an active practicing physician and a medical school faculty member in the Philippines. He created a successful healthcare corporation that addressed primary care accessibility during the pandemic and is also an experienced consultant that helps digital and healthtech founders define their technology and find correct solutions for unmet healthcare needs. He joined NLC in April 2022 as a business development intern to help bring healthech innovations closer to the patient’s bedside. He is currently finishing his Advanced Master’s in Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Management at Grenoble Ecole de Management, Paris Campus.

Extensive experience in mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance gained at EY’s M&A department and passionate about innovation and making an impact. He will leverage his experience and passion to support NLC’s ventures with finance related issues throughout their lifecycle, ultimately leading to achieving successful exits, maximizing the ventures’ positive impact on society.

Responsible for guarding the quality of inflow of new technologies. She holds a Msc in Life Sciences and Innovation management.  With her multidisciplinary interests, she is always keen to spot opportunities and select technologies ready for venture building. A team player determined to strengthen the venture development team and venture building process.

Pro-active, dedicated and an analytically strong teamplayer, with a decade of experience in strategic and operational health care consulting and health economics. Interested in accelerating the role of technology and innovation in improving health and the health care landscape. At NLC, she carries main responsibility for a smooth venture building process and personal development of the people within.

Backed by extensive experience in M&A, and passionate about bringing forward a positive impact on society, Jola joined the NLC Venture Finance to support ventures with their funding needs. Prior to joining NLC, Jola worked at Deloitte Financial Advisory and Corporate Finance on various transactions, gaining experience on multidisciplinary aspects of deal-making process, which she aims to leverage in her position at Venture Finance to help achieve successful exits.

Student in the final year of an IT bachelor program at NHL Stenden. Jonathan is a Certified Ethical Hacker, with cyber security and software development skills. Jonathan has experience with not only software but hardware and networking. His goal is to support the team in developing healthtech ventures that bring science to life.

Leads NLC’s operations, using his hands-on experience with developing young, fast growing companies. Joost holds an MSc. in Theoretical Physics and provided board level consulting for 20 years, among others as managing partner of healthcare specialist Plexus (later KPMG Plexus, after the acquisition he negotiated).

Jordy has a passion for the life sciences & healthcare sector as well as the financial industry. After gaining experience at Kempen & Co, a pan-European life sciences & healthcare investment bank, he is now eager to leverage his expertise to identify promising opportunities and propel new ventures forward for patients worldwide to benefit from.

Jorge has been founder and CEO in 6 industries. Prior to joining NLC, Jorge founded and managed Kanteron Systems, a Computational Bioinformatics company. Formerly, he was a member of the European Commission Expert Group, and university lecturer (UPV and UOC). Jorge graduated in Computer Science from the University of Oxford, and has completed postgraduate studies in Entrepreneurship at MIT, and in Clinical Genomics at the University of Valencia. He is currently an Innovation Fellow at Harvard University.

Julian joined NLC in January 2022 as a Venture Developer Intern and will support the NLC mission of bringing science to life. He acquired a medical degree from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. With his clinical background and a fascination for biotech and medtech, Julian is enthusiastic about leaving a lasting impact on patients' lives and improving healthcare for everyone involved.

Julie is dedicated to improving the healthcare industry by implementing data-driven, evidence-based solutions, and seeking innovations of healthtec. She joined NLC as Venture Support Officer, supporting ventures to bring the innovations to patients. She holds an joint degree of MS in Agro-biomedical Science from National Taiwan University, Tsukuba University, Université de Bordeaux and an EMBA from Quantic School Of Business And Technology.

Kathrin has more than 15 years of experience in supporting Startups – mainly in the Life Science business – in different positions as consultant and coach. She is a biochemist and holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Neuroscience. Besides her scientific background she is also trained as a Business Coach, Team Coach & Team Developer and holds a Micro Master in Business Model Innovation. Prior to joining NLC she was in Seed Management with grow platform GmbH, A Bosch Company. Kathrin brings expertise in supporting early stage scientific entrepreneurial projects turning into valuable businesses.

After discovering his passion for solving multidisciplinary challenges during his B.Sc. in Politics, Philosophy and Economics Kevin joined NLC to leverage his passion in order to generate a positive social impact. He gained experience in supporting strategic decision-making during his internship at a management consultancies in Munich. Having enjoyed an international education in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and China, Kevin is eager to assist in globally representing the financial interests of NLC ventures and investors.

Driven by the goal of making a positive societal impact through entrepreneurship, Lars joined NLC after finishing my master's degree at the London School of Economics. Together with the rest of the Venture Finance team, he is responsible for designing and validating business models of our new healthtech ventures, managing financing rounds for ventures in the NLC portfolio (both dilutive and non-dilutive), and developing novel financial propositions to ensure all our portfolio companies are financed according to need. This is all done with one single goal in mind: to accelerate the growth of NLC's venture portfolio and bring more groundbreaking medical innovations to the patient.

Lou is a business minded corporate legal counsel with extensive international experience in major law firms in Luxembourg and New York. She enjoys working in a thriving environment and aims to contribute her legal expertise to make a significant impact on healthcare.  She will be providing legal support to both NLC and its ventures.

35+ years of experience in Life Science industries across a range of therapeutic indications, business models and molecular mechanisms. Following a multidisciplinary international career in a top Pharma he held a number of general manager and CEO roles in biotech and diagnostics companies, service providers and mid-tier pharma companies and supported numerous early stage companies in business and corporate development and fundraising. Lucio brings hands-on experience in research, development, marketing, sales, licensing, fund-raising and company management. He managed the start-up and growth of several companies. He is driven to bring innovations to commercial success and benefit of the health and well-being of patients.

Lydia holds a BSc in Biology from Greece, a MSc in Pharmacology from the Netherlands and a PhD in Neuroscience from Sweden. She has 8+ years of R&D experience in academic and industrial settings (including Yale University and AstraZeneca) across 4 countries. She has a strong interest in the business/commercial side of Life Sciences and she is currently pursuing an MBA degree. She joined NLC in April 2022 as Venture Developer in the biotech field, with special focus on innovations in Neuroscience and Neuroimmunology. She looks forward to applying her scientific knowledge in building ventures and ultimately helping NLC bring innovative science to patients in need.

Marcos joined NLC on the 1st of May 2022. He has a background in life science, having worked in biotech startups and most recently as a consultant supporting global pharma and healthcare companies with market access / sales strategies.

Driven, internationally oriented generalist aiming at having a positive impact for people and society. As lead Venture Support, he is providing services to scale NLC’s ventures to bring innovation to healthcare and to improve people’s lives. He holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Groningen and an MBA from INSEAD.

Pharmacist by training and with various entrepreneurial endeavours during his studies he acquired the skills to bring projects forward. Therefore, he is very eager to use these skills to bring technology, health and business together to drive change and innovation for the patient.

Mthulisi joined NLC in June 2022 as a Legal Intern. He holds a Bachelors of Laws degree from the University of Cape Town and is currently studying towards a Masters in International Business Law at Tilburg University. He hopes to draw upon his other professional experiences interning at various Law firms and multinational corporations such as British American Tobacco. Whilst at NLC he ultimately seeks to learn as much as possible from the experienced in house legal team.

Nina joined NLC in June 2022 as a Venture Developer. She holds a MSc in Biomedical Engineering from TU Delft. Previously she worked as a management consultant in the healthcare industry and as a lead for the innovation team of a mental healthcare institution. With this background she has developed a broad view on the healthcare industry and she is eager to leverage her expertise at NLC within the Medtech domain.

Nina gained experience working as a venture fundraiser in Paris, advising entrepreneurs on their financial strategy as well as connecting startups with a wide range of private investors and public funding. Now a member of NLC’s Venture Finance team, Nina will use this experience to support NLC’s ventures on their finance related issues throughout their lifecycle to ensure their success.

Responsible for NLC’s corporate partnerships. She believes constructive collaboration is a true prerequisite for value creation. Nina loves to build new concepts and stories together with people and feels privileged to work in an environment where people not only dare to envision the future, but also help shape it.

Prior to joining NLC as a Venture Partner, Pieter spent 15 years at Philips, bringing innovation to life across the globe. He enjoys working in fast paced environments and supporting initiatives that truly improve the lives of people.

Highly motivated technology enthusiast with a passion for making processes more fluent and integrated, Raymond will be managing the ICT Systems and working with a small team to improve our current ICT related workflows.

Lead Implant Preservation Devices at NLC. 25+ years of experience in Medical Devices, with a focus on Orthopaedics. Additional experience in Wound Care, Ostomy Care and Dental care. Has held senior management roles in a number of leading Orthopaedic and Medical Device companies for the last 25 years. Launched groundbraking Orthopaedic implant devices in major markets and developed Orthopaedic businesses in emerging markets.

Rita holds a BSc in Biology and MSc in Molecular Genetics and Biomedicine from Lisbon, Portugal. She is currently finishing her PhD in Bioengineering under the MIT-Portugal Program. Rita has +6 years of R&D experience, mainly in in vitro/ex vivo preclinical models, nanotechnology and omics/AI-based strategies in precision medicine applied to oncology. Rita has an entrepreneurial mindset and participated in 7 business/innovation-related courses, including a mini-MBA for life scientists. She joined NLC in April 2022 as a Venture Developer in the biotech team. Rita aims to help bring new healthtech from the lab to the market to solve unmet medical needs and ultimately improve patients’ lives.

Trained as a Pharmacist, he worked in several pharmaceutical companies and has broad experience in marketing and sales functions as well as general management.  As Venture Partner his focus is on building innovative companies and strengthening NLC’s abilities to bring innovations to healthcare.

Before joining NLC, Ruben spent 6 years at Robeco Asset Management and almost 14 years in KPMG’s Deals practice, of which the last 6.5 years as a Partner. Ruben brings along a lot of expertise in general financial management and M&A. He is looking forward to use his experience to support NLC with its expansion plans.

Former Chief IP Officer and Executive Vice President at Philips. IP business leader and entrepreneur, widely recognized as one of the current thought leaders in IP.

Hands on with extensive experience in office management, project management and marketing support in the healthcare sector. Gets energy from arranging everything down to the last detail.

Highly motivated, passionate proactive team player with a great sense of responsibility. She likes the combination of Finance and Legal tasks that contribute to the development of the company and bringing science to life.

Corporate counsel with around 18 years of international experience in the life sciences and chemical industry, who is driven by “making things happen” at innovative companies, with the aim to make a social impact. She has held various inhouse positions at DSM (Life Science & Innovation Cluster) and recently at Avantium’s joint venture Synvina. At NLC, she will be providing and managing legal support to both NLC and its ventures, and as such contributing to bring science to life.

Sinja is currently finishing her Masters in Intercultural Communication at Utrecht University, and holds a BA in General Linguistics from the University of Amsterdam. She joined the NLC Marketing and Communications team in April 2022 for her graduate internship. Passionate about communication and eager to learn about marketing, she is excited to embark on this new journey at NLC for the next six months.

Experienced MedTech executive with ample experience in fund-raising and creating and growing MedTech companies for complex Class III medical devices (including Sapiens Steering Brain Stimulation, acquired by Medtronic, and GTX medical). Over 25 years of experience in R&D project management, product management, creating and managing alliances, and early stage venturing, mainly for MedTech and Healthcare products.

A highly international and networked entrepreneur trained as Medical Doctor and Medical Biologist, he is a visionary strategist conversant within and across disciplines. As Venture Partner, his focus is on building innovative companies and strengthening NLC’s abilities to bring innovations to healthcare.

Thomas has joined NLC in March 2022 as a Technology Assessment and Strategy Intern. He holds a BSc in Biomedical Engineering and MSc in Innovation Management, both from the Eindhoven University of Technology. He is excited to learn about new healthtech innovations and help NLC to bring these promising innovations to patients!

Thomas joined NLC in May 2022 as a venture developer, he is interested in the intersection between science & society and how ideas can be translated to measurable impact son patient health. He has a background in Biotechnology (health and environmental) and life science business. He has worked previously as an innovation consultant, specialised in funding, and is excited to use these skills to help bring ideas to life at NLC.

Tom initially joined NLC in the role of Venture Finance Expert following a career at Deloitte's Corporate Finance practice in Amsterdam and London. Being always interested in the people side of doing business he gained experience in building teams and coaching team members. In the entrepreneurial environment of NLC Tom has now pivoted himself to fully focus on the NLC Talent Journey with a focus on People & Culture.

Will is a chartered accountant with several years M&A experience. Prior to joining NLC, he spent 6 years with PwC in London, starting out in the Risk Assurance practice, then more recently Transaction Services, providing financial due diligence to Private Equity and Corporates on buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions. The latter experience is where he has developed his data analytics skill set. He brings with him an entrepreneurial mindset and looks forward to leveraging his experience to support NLC's growth.

PhD with both corporate and venturing experience, as principal scientist and prolific inventor at Philips Research turned serial entrepreneur.  IP-expert. Fascinated by nature, technology and their synergy.
