Amalia Stenberg joined NLC on August 16th, 2021, as a Legal Counsel. Before joining NLC she worked as a banking and corporate legal counsel at The Student Hotel in Amsterdam. In this position she advised on corporate, banking and funding matters in multiple jurisdictions. Amalia holds a LL.M. degree from Uppsala University and have also studied EU law in Utrecht. In her studies she was very interested in regulation surrounding healthtech and wrote her master thesis on privacy issues in health tracking devices used in healthcare. She is now thrilled to join NLC in its mission to bring better and more affordable healthtech solutions to the patient.
Senior Technical Consultant
Amanda Lehmann joined NLC’s Technology Assessment and Strategy team in August 2021. Her background is in the life sciences, having undertaken a PhD and postdoctoral studies in Cambridge, Montreal and Munich. She has worked at several UK technology transfer offices at the academia/industry interface. Amanda enjoys hearing about new technologies and getting them to the next crucial step on their journey to achieving patient benefit.
Amerens has a degree in Clinical Technology and is currently pursuing a MSc in Biomedical Engineering at the Technical University of Delft with a specialization in Medical Physics. With her medical-technical knowledge she is eager to find technical innovations with potential and support the venture development team to make a serious impact in healthcare.
Anemone von Blomberg

Bernard has always been driven by his curiosity and eager to learn how inventions work and how they can be improved. After graduating as a mechanical engineering he sought out a way to expand his technical knowledge to create more value. He left his home country, Brazil, to start his master’s in Entrepreneurship and Business Design at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, where he has had first-hand experience with venture creation, training in intellectual property strategy, open innovation and knowledge-based business development. Now, he aligns his technical and entrepreneurial background with his interest in healthcare improvement and helps NLC to bring innovative solutions to the patients.
Bert Arjan Millenaar
Founder & CEO
Founder of NLC with a personal aim to advance health. He has over twenty years of experience in business development and growth strategies. His love for pushing boundaries and stretching the possibilities of an organization allows Bert-Arjan to steer NLC's unique business model and to support the team.
Christian is a life science professional, with a passion for translating science into innovations and a particular interest in digital solutions and value creation from data assets. He received his PhD in biophysical chemistry from Heidelberg University and was a postdoc at the Max Planck Society and Harvard University. With more than 16 years of cross-functional and general management experience from large global corporates (Elsevier, Merck), management consulting (BCG) and fast-growing startups (ZAGENO), Christian brings valuable expertise, including: digital product management, strategy development as well as business transformation and scaling.
Currently a student at Saxion Hogeschool, following Business and IT bachelor study. He has a completed bachelor study in Finances. Strives to help business achieve optimal IT support, improve ICT workflow, translate business requirements into IT solutions, and optimize business processes. Strives to develop effective and efficient IT support, so that the enterprise achieves its goals and objectives.
Dominique de Jong
Ellis sees health innovation as an inherently intersectional field and joined NLC as a venture developer to combine her interests in research, business, and policy to help translation health inventions into tangible solutions. Ellis has a background in chemical and biological engineering and research and a Master’s degree in medical biology and innovation management.

Eva van Rooijen

Entrepreneurial, positive and result-driven team player with a decade of experience in talent management and executive search, including founding and exiting a life sciences recruitment agency. Passionate about high-impact innovation and strong believer of ‘You can invent alone, but you can not innovate alone’.
Francesco is a recent graduate from Erasmus University of Rotterdam (Msc. Business Administration) and has joined the Market Assessment & Strategy team. Driven by a passion for entrepreneurship and startups, and the aim of achieving strategic progress, he helps NLC portfolio startups to find the best way of approaching the market.
Gina holds a Masters in biotechnology with a focus on synthetic biology from ETH Zurich and worked in management consulting as well as venture capital before joining NLC. She joined NLC as a Venture Developer in February 2020 to help startups succeed and ensure the wealth of innovation surrounding us gets its chance to make a real impact.

Lead Venture Finance
Hidde has extensive experience in mergers & acquistions, corporate and structured finance, company valuations, debt advisory, venture capital and treasury management. He gained this experience at EY’s M&A department, at Zanders as well as at an Amsterdam based M&A boutique. He will use this experience to help NLC’s ventures with finance related issues throughout their lifecycle under NLC’s management, ultimately leading to achieving successful exits, maximizing the ventures’ positive impact on society.
Iris Meijer has joined NLC in September 2021 and is working as a Venture Development Intern. Her background is Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, with a specialization in Medical Devices. In the Venture Development team, she is eager to use her health-tech knowledge to spot impactful innovations and improve healthcare.
Jelena brings more than 15 years of experience in the life science industry spanning biotech R&D strategy & investment consulting and drug discovery research. Prior to joining NLC team, Jelena was Principal with Catenion, a boutique consultancy serving international biotech and pharma companies as well as top tier VCs. Earlier in her career Jelena served as a Research Laboratory Head at Boehringer Ingelheim. She obtained her PhD in Immunology from the Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna, and subsequently trained as a Damon Runyon Cancer Research Fellow and Marie Curie fellow at the New York University School of Medicine and Ludwig Maximilian University.
Jikke de Jong
Responsible for guarding the quality of inflow of new technologies. She holds a Msc in Life Sciences and Innovation management. With her multidisciplinary interests, she is always keen to spot opportunities and select technologies ready for venture building. A team player determined to strengthen the venture development team and venture building process.
Lead Venture Creation & Venture Partner
Pro-active, dedicated and an analytically strong teamplayer, with a decade of experience in strategic and operational health care consulting and health economics. Interested in accelerating the role of technology and innovation in improving health and the health care landscape. At NLC, she carries main responsibility for a smooth venture building process and personal development of the people within.
Leads NLC’s operations, using his hands-on experience with developing young, fast growing companies. Joost holds an MSc. in Theoretical Physics and provided board level consulting for 20 years, among others as managing partner of healthcare specialist Plexus (later KPMG Plexus, after the acquisition he negotiated).
Jordy has a passion for the life sciences & healthcare sector as well as the financial industry. After gaining experience at Kempen & Co, a pan-European life sciences & healthcare investment bank, he is now eager to leverage his expertise to identify promising opportunities and propel new ventures forward for patients worldwide to benefit from.
Joy is enthusiastic about bridging silos along patient journeys and improving therapeutic outcomes. With 10 years of business and engineering in medtech and pharma, she has a mission-driven mindset towards enabling people to live healthier and happier lives. Julie Szu-Chun Yang
Venture Support Expert
Julie is dedicated to improving the healthcare industry by implementing data-driven, evidence-based solutions, and seeking innovations of healthtec. She joined NLC as Venture Support Officer, supporting ventures to bring the innovations to patients. She holds an joint degree of MS in Agro-biomedical Science from National Taiwan University, Tsukuba University, Université de Bordeaux and an EMBA from Quantic School Of Business And Technology.
After discovering his passion for solving multidisciplinary challenges during his B.Sc. in Politics, Philosophy and Economics Kevin joined NLC to leverage his passion in order to generate a positive social impact. He gained experience in supporting strategic decision-making during his internship at a management consultancies in Munich. Having enjoyed an international education in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and China, Kevin is eager to assist in globally representing the financial interests of NLC ventures and investors.
Venture Finance Expert
Driven by the goal of making a positive societal impact through entrepreneurship, Lars joined NLC after finishing my master's degree at the London School of Economics. Together with the rest of the Venture Finance team, he is responsible for designing and validating business models of our new healthtech ventures, managing financing rounds for ventures in the NLC portfolio (both dilutive and non-dilutive), and developing novel financial propositions to ensure all our portfolio companies are financed according to need. This is all done with one single goal in mind: to accelerate the growth of NLC's venture portfolio and bring more groundbreaking medical innovations to the patient.
Laura is a Master’s student in Administration, Financial Management and Control at Bocconi University. She joined NLC in May 2021 as a Venture Finance intern after having gained experience working for the Argentinian Consulate in the international trade department. Having always been passionate about the healthcare industry she is looking forward to make the most out of this experience while contributing significantly to NLC’s venture portfolio.
An enthusiastic team player with the ambition to bridge the gap between technologies and healthcare. She has a masters in Technical Medicine, Imaging and Interventions. Lou is a business minded corporate legal counsel with extensive international experience in major law firms in Luxembourg and New York. Marieke is a master’s student in Biomedical Engineering at the Delft University of Technology, with a specialization in Neuromusculoskeletal Biomechanics. Marieke joined NLC in September 2021 as a Venture Development Intern. She will focus on scouting and selecting valuable ventures with the goal to advance healthcare. She is looking forward to apply her medical and technical knowledge to boost healtech innovations.
Maxim Smits van Oyen
Lead Venture Support
Driven, internationally oriented generalist aiming at having a positive impact for people and society. As lead Venture Support, he is providing services to scale NLC’s ventures to bring innovation to healthcare and to improve people’s lives. He holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Groningen and an MBA from INSEAD.
Venture Finance Expert
Nina gained experience working as a venture fundraiser in Paris, advising entrepreneurs on their financial strategy as well as connecting startups with a wide range of private investors and public funding. Now a member of NLC’s Venture Finance team, Nina will use this experience to support NLC’s ventures on their finance related issues throughout their lifecycle to ensure their success.
Lead Corporate Partnerships
Responsible for NLC’s corporate partnerships. She believes constructive collaboration is a true prerequisite for value creation. Nina loves to build new concepts and stories together with people and feels privileged to work in an environment where people not only dare to envision the future, but also help shape it.
Olsi studied Economics at the University of Crete becoming the first generation graduate. He expanded his studies in Finance at Tilburg University and Business at Warwick Business School and became interested in entrepreneurship and the startup landscape. Driven to create positive impact for society he joined NLC, helping life-saving medical devices to reach the market.
IT Systems Manager
Before joining NLC, Ruben spent 6 years at Robeco Asset Management and almost 14 years in KPMG’s Deals practice, of which the last 6.5 years as a Partner. Ruben brings along a lot of expertise in general financial management and M&A. He is looking forward to use his experience to support NLC with its expansion plans.
Sabina is passionate about improving healthcare by helping innovative researchers reach their goals. Currently, she’s finishing her master Biomedical Sciences at Leiden University and focussing on the track Science-Based Business. She’s excited to make an impact in HealthTech through her work at NLC.
Legal & Finance Assistent
Sahil is currently studying the MSc Biology and Business Studies at Leiden University and living in Amsterdam. He has a passion for healthcare business & management and the ambition to strive in this area through utilizing and further developing his analytical skills and fast learning capability. His area of focus will be early HTA and reimbursement of newly developed ventures.
Lead Legal Counsel
Corporate counsel with around 18 years of international experience in the life sciences and chemical industry, who is driven by “making things happen” at innovative companies, with the aim to make a social impact. She has held various inhouse positions at DSM (Life Science & Innovation Cluster) and recently at Avantium’s joint venture Synvina. At NLC, she will be providing and managing legal support to both NLC and its ventures, and as such contributing to bring science to life.
Sandra has recently graduated from a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science by Tilburg University. She also holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Neuropsychology. Sandra is committed to NLC ’s mission of advancing healthcare by combining data science methodology and her scientific background. She enjoys working in fast-paced and thriving environments that strive to have a social impact.
Experienced MedTech executive with ample experience in fund-raising and creating and growing MedTech companies for complex Class III medical devices (including Sapiens Steering Brain Stimulation, acquired by Medtronic, and GTX medical). Over 25 years of experience in R&D project management, product management, creating and managing alliances, and early stage venturing, mainly for MedTech and Healthcare products.

Tom has extensive experience in raising debt & capital funding for mid-market Private Equity, Private Corporates, and fast-growing ventures (e.g. scale-ups). He gained this experience over the past 8 years at Deloitte’s Debt & Capital Advisory practice in Amsterdam and London. He will leverage this experience to support NLC’s ventures with finance related issues throughout their lifecycle under NLC’s management, ultimately leading to achieving successful exits, maximizing the ventures’ positive impact on society.
Lead Business Data & Analytics
Will is a chartered accountant with several years M&A experience. Prior to joining NLC, he spent 6 years with PwC in London, starting out in the Risk Assurance practice, then more recently Transaction Services, providing financial due diligence to Private Equity and Corporates on buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions. The latter experience is where he has developed his data analytics skill set. He brings with him an entrepreneurial mindset and looks forward to leveraging his experience to support NLC's growth.
